Send Target Positions to GrandMA 3
To send Target positions to a GrandMA 3 station, you can use the PSN protocol.
Hardware Connection
The Kratos station and the GrandMA station must be connected to the same Ethernet network.
- As PSN is a multicast protocol, the Kratos station doesn't need to have an Ethernet address in the same subnet as the GrandMA station. They just need to be on the same network.
- If you use a physical GrandMA 3 console, you can use any Ethernet connector to receive PSN.
GrandMA Side
To receive PSN information on GrandMA 3, follow these steps:
- Open the menu window and go to the "Network" page.
- Choose a MA-Net interface.
- Click the "Create" button to create a session.
- Go to the menu window again and open the "In & Out" page.
- Go to the "PSN" tab.
- Activate the PSN input by clicking the "Enable input" button at the top right of the page.
- Check that the "Interface" is set to the interface to which Kratos is connected (127.0.0.1 if Kratos is running on the same computer as GrandMA 3).
- Create a new PSN input by clicking the "Insert new System" button at the bottom left of the page.
- A new line will appear on the page, with all text in red.
- Enable the newly created PSN input by right-clicking on the cell of the line corresponding to the "Requested" column. The text of the line will turn white.
- The default IP address and port for a PSN server are
236.10.10.10
and56565
. If you have multiple PSN servers on the same network, make sure each is linked to a different port. It is possible to change the port and PSN multicast address if the server does not use the standard port and multicast address. - To check if the connection is established, you can expand the tracker list of the PSN input by clicking on the arrow icon next to the PSN system name. If you can see the name and position of the Targets sent by Kratos, the connection is established.
You can find more information about PSN on the MA help page.
Kratos Side
On Kratos, you will need to create a PSN server to send the Target positions to the GrandMA 3 station. This is done by creating a PSN Module:
- Go to a Module view, click on the "CREATE MODULE" icon on the left of the view and select "PSN" in the list of available modules. Choose a name for your module and click "CREATE".
- Select the Module in the list and enter the IP address you want to use for the PSN server. You can also change the port number if needed.
- You can change the PSN server name that will be seen on the GrandMA 3 station.
- If the GrandMA 3 doesn't use the same coordinate system, you can remap and invert the axes before sending the position data. You can also do that on the GrandMA 3 side.
- Make sure that the module is enabled and that the output is enabled too.
